InterAct Featured in New Book Celebrating the History of the Petroleum Industry in California

BLACK GOLD IN CALIFORNIA: The Story of the California Petroleum Industry” is a significant new, illustrated ‘coffee table’ history book commissioned by the California Independent Petroleum Association and written by Dr. Robert D. Francis professor of geology and chair of the Department of Geological Sciences, California State University Long Beach (CSULB). It tells the story of the people and events that have shaped the California oil and gas industry, bringing jobs and economic stability to our state, from the drilling of the first well in 1865 to the era of twenty-first century drilling technology, which has propelled California into the forefront of oil producing states.

“InterAct PMTI, Inc. (InterAct) is an international project management, engineering and environmental consulting firm specializing in oil and gas production, development, and decommissioning services.

Headquartered in Ventura, California, InterAct is made up of experienced, solution-minded engineers, scientists, environmental, and safety professionals covering a wide range of disciplines and expertise in the energy market.

InterAct’s personnel are safety oriented, dedicated and highly skilled.  The firm’s professionalism and passion for helping clients achieve their goals, along with its interdisciplinary expertise, has enabled InterAct to become a leader in its field.

Founded in 1995 as Fairweather Pacific, LLC, the company successfully managed oil and projects in one of the most highly regulated environments in the world. The company later changed its name to Pacific Management Technologies Incorporated (PMTI), continuing its mission of providing engineering, environmental, and field support for oil production and end-of-life decommissioning projects in the Pacific region and Gulf of Mexico.

The Acteon Group acquired the company in 2007, changing its name to InterAct, reflecting a key aspect of the company’s winning formula – effective interactions with clients, regulators, vendors, and subcontractors for successful project management.  Acteon continued to expand its portfolio with a focus on engineered solutions between the interface of offshore wells and production facilities throughout the oil field life cycle. Over the last decade, the Acteon Group has grown nearly ten-fold into a global subsea services company.

Being part of Acteon enables InterAct to draw on a large international pool of skills and expertise to complement those found in-house.  Working together, InterAct has completed projects in oil and gas markets around the world including well conductor removals in the South China Sea, well abandonment programs in the Middle East, well casing design in the Mediterranean, and decommissioning planning and environmental work in West Africa and the North Sea. This is in addition to servicing its home market clients in California, Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico with their engineering, operations, and regulatory challenges.

The motto at InterAct is: We plan. We engineer. We deliver. You Succeed. InterAct’s experienced personnel offer practical, well-conceived solutions to client-specific needs, knowing that safety and environmental stewardship are cornerstones to success.

InterAct assists clients with all phases of oil development, from acquisition due diligence and feasibility assessments, to drilling, facilities construction, and field and reservoir optimization, and final facility abandonment. The range of expertise makes InterAct an ideal, ready-made contract operations partner for oil field investors.

InterAct’s offering includes:

• Activity Management – InterAct project managers include experienced engineers and operations personnel with a keen understanding of the metrics and drivers for on-time, on-budget project execution.

• Engineering and Field Services – InterAct provides comprehensive drilling, production, reservoir and facilities engineering, along with operational field development and management services. Additionally, the company employs drilling and workover site managers as well as API-trained crane operators and riggers.

• Environmental and Regulatory Services – InterAct offers comprehensive environmental and regulatory services including permit acquisition, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory compliance support.

• Decommissioning Services – A recognized leader internationally in this field, InterAct provides cost estimation, permitting, planning and execution services for facility removals and well plugging and abandonments.

The firm helps clients achieve their project goals in strictly regulated environments. With new interpretations of environmental laws and the promulgation of new regulations, InterAct helps companies understand and develop practical programs for implementation.  Examples include land use permitting, groundwater protection through zonal isolation analysis, air quality and greenhouse gas emissions calculations, quantitative risk assessments, process safety analyses, industrial stormwater permitting, and spill prevention and contingency planning.

InterAct’s technical staff have performed well integrity reviews for more than 8,000 wells and developed cost models and procedures for well plugging and abandonment and facility decommissioning. Its project managers have managed offshore rig moves, crane replacements, platform retrofits, and major onshore plant construction projects.

InterAct works across the industry, successfully facilitating multi-operator challenges and finding coordinated solutions. An example of this was the Subsea Well and Rig Sharing (SWARS) program – a six-company campaign to mobilize a jack-up rig originating from West Africa to abandon twenty-three subsea wells in the Santa Barbara Channel. The program was a success by all measures, as it efficiently and cost-effectively accomplished the intended goal of permanently plugging the wells while reducing environmental impacts. The company is embarking on a similar approach with its Pacific Abandonment Coordinated Enterprise (PACE) program, and is assisting several companies with the planning of the eventual decommissioning of west coast offshore platforms.

InterAct and its employees are committed to giving back to the community and are involved in a number of civic and charitable activities, including college scholarships through the API, fundraisers for cancer research and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, as well as helping to fund energy education initiatives.

InterAct and its professionals are active members of numerous professional engineering, environmental, and management associations. The company is also registered with PEC and ISNetworld."
