InterAct is Awarded Becker Well Re-Abandonment by State

The Becker well was drilled in the late 1800s, is located in the surf zone, and has been known to periodically leak small amounts of oil creating a nuisance for the Summerland beach community. InterAct was recently awarded the bid for re-abandonment of the Becker well and has successfully completed Phase 1 - excavation and assessment – on time and under budget. InterAct will now begin Phase 2, completion of an engineering evaluation of the most cost effective method for final abandonment. Phase 3, actual re-abandonment, is scheduled to occur in the 3rd quarter of 2016, assuming the California State Lands Commission secures necessary funding.
